For those of you that have never been to Punta Cana, we thought we would provide some quick tips so you know what to expect!

Airport

  1. When you arrive, the airport is outdoors, so I would dress in layers so you can remove your jackets/sweaters and will be comfortable going through baggage claim, etc.

  2. There is a small airport fee once you arrive in customs. $10/each - cash only.  You will simply pay before entering baggage claim.

  3. Baggage Claim:  Some Dominican men will likely try to carry your bags for you.  I recommend you let them.  They are not stealing your stuff.  They will whisk you through the airport, maybe even bypass security, and take you to your transportion.  Tip them a couple dollars and life is good.

  4. Transportation: I would pre-book your transportation with your vacation package.  It tends to be easier and cheaper.  It's about a 30-40 min ride from the airport to the hotel.  Grab a coconut water before you leave the airport.  Mmmm.

Your Stay

  1. It's ALL-Inclusive.  Food, Drinks, and Smiles are all included.

  2. Bring a bunch of $1 bills for tipping.  What's a bunch?  Depends on how long you will be there.  I would say $10-$20 per day is adequate.

  3. Bring other money if you want to do excursions (water sports, zip lines, off-road jeeps, golfing, etc).  You can book your excursions at the hotel and they usually take credit cards.  There is also a casino on-site, so bring at least a million dollars for that (cash only).  In general though, the resorts are so beautiful, we hardly ever leave.

  4. Water:  I don't recommend drinking the tap water.  Stick to bottled water, which should be readily available.

  5. Clothing:  Women - wear whatever you want.  Men - plan on swimsuit by day and pants by night.  Most restaurants require long pants.  You can always change into shorts after dinner.

That should pretty much cover it.  Again, if you have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Cheers!
